In February of 2011, the people of Wisconsin changed the political landscape in America overnight. By fighting back against their governor’s attack on collective bargaining, they inspired progressives across the country and revived the conversation on organized labor, direct-action, and civil resistance.

“We Are Wisconsin: The Wisconsin uprising in the words of the activists, writers, and everyday Wisconsinites who made it happen” is a new collection that gives an up-close view of the Wisconsin struggle. This mix of essays, blog posts, and original writing looks at what happened, what it means, and what comes next—and includes the real-time, fast-paced story of the Capitol occupation as told through tweets from those who were on the inside.

Join us to celebrate the book launch, hear from book contributors, and discuss next steps for the movement that began in Wisconsin.Books as well as posters will be available for purchase.

The event is taking place at Art In These Times, which is currently showing “Wi Rise Up!,” an exhibition of posters and photographs from the Wisconsin struggle.
